Delta Dental Plan of Maine Elects New Board Directors


Delta Dental Plan of Maine announces the election of four new board directors: Dr. Michael Goldberg, Jason Lenardson, Dr. Burton Rankie, and Dr. Jeffrey Walawender.

Michael Goldberg, DMD, of Orono, has practiced dentistry in Bangor, Maine, for more than 25 years.  His practice specializes in periodontics and implants.  Dr. Goldberg earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Mass., where he also completed a post-graduate periodontics program.  Dr. Goldberg has held the position of dental faculty at Penobscot Community Health Center in Bangor for the Dental Residency Program, and Faculty Associate in Dental Health at the University of Maine at Augusta Dental Health Program, also in Bangor.

Information Technology (IT) veteran Jason Lenardson, of Yarmouth, is the Chief Operating Officer and a Partner at Winxnet, Inc., in Portland, Maine,  an IT consulting firm with a focus on delivering IT to medical practices.  Lenardson, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Business with a minor in the Russian language from the University of Maine – Orono, returned to the state from Virginia after being recruited by the Hussey Seating Company in North Berwick.  His experience includes translating Russian for the Maine Education and Training Export Partnership and the United States Agency for International Development’s Partnership for International Education and Training. 

Burton Rankie, DDS, of Naples, is the practice owner of White Mountain Orthodontics, PA, in Naples, Maine.  Dr. Rankie, who specializes in Orthodontics and Oralfacial Orthopedics, earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University Of Buffalo School Of Dental Medicine in Buffalo, N.Y., and completed his residency in Orthodontics and Oralfacial Orthopedics at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester, Rochester, N.Y.  He is a cleft team orthodontist on the Maine Department of Health Cleft and Craniofacial Team at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Jeffrey Walawender, DDS, of South Portland, is the lead dentist of Community Dental’s center in Portland, Maine.  Dr. Walawender earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, in Buffalo, N.Y., and received advanced education in general dentistry from the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta.   His responsibilities at Community Dental include the roles of Dental Director of the Special Needs Clinic and Residency Site Director for its Advanced Education in General Dentistry program.
