As part of Northeast Delta Dental’s commitment to educate patients on the importance of oral health and its relationship to overall health, Northeast Delta Dental, along with the other member companies of the Delta Dental Plans Association, has exclusively licensed myDentalScore.com from PreViser Corporation, a world leader in oral health risk and disease assessment.
As most of you have heard, a 2.3% medical device excise tax takes effect on January 1, 2013. The tax is directly imposed on device manufacturers and importers, not on dentists/dental offices or patients. This tax arose out of the Affordable Care Act as a funding mechanism for its mandates.
Every two years, the American Dental Association – the ADA - updates the Current Dental Terminology (CDT) procedure codes to keep in tune with dental practice. These procedure codes are numeric representations of the dental procedures performed, and they include a written description called the nomenclature. Both dentists and dental benefits companies, like Northeast Delta Dental, must use the most current set of procedures codes and nomenclature to submit and process claims. Beginning in 2014, these ADA updates will occur on an annual basis.
