The Northeast Delta Dental Foundation recently awarded the Wentworth-Douglass Community Dental Center $5,000 to plan and implement the Oral Health Integration into Primary Healthcare project for the Wentworth-Douglass Physician Corporation (WDPC) medical practices. The Northeast Delta Dental is co-sponsoring this project with the Patterson Dental Foundation. WDPC practices will be one of the first groups in New Hampshire to embrace the integration of oral health into primary healthcare.

The New Hampshire Diabetes Coalition Public Education Work Group was the recent recipient of a grant of nearly $5,000. It is one of three work groups established to help address the work of the New Hampshire Action Plan for Diabetes. Representatives of healthcare organizations, individuals with diabetes, and other volunteers come together with the task of expanding the public’s knowledge about Diabetes.

University of New England (UNE) announces the lead gift of $2.3 million from Northeast Delta Dental in support of the UNE College of Dental Medicine.

During the planning process of building a new dental center in Biddeford, Community Dental received a $100,000 grant from Delta Dental Plan of Maine. The grant funded dental equipment for the Biddeford Dental Health Center that opened six months ago in the Robert Dodge Business Park at 57 Barra Rd, Suite 3.

Northeast Delta Dental Foundation awarded $7,500 to the Greater Nashua Dental Connection (GNDC) in support of its school dental program, which provides oral health services to children from 18 area schools. Thirty local dentists volunteer their time at the clinic to provide checkups for uninsured students. With the support of school nurses and health administrators, the clinic serves approximately 30-50 students per month, depending on the needs of the school.

On Tuesday, March 23, President Obama signed into law a health care reform bill passed by both the House and Senate. We thought it would be helpful to summarize the key provisions in the health care reform package and the timeline for implementation.

Plans
