Laurence Weissbrot Appointed to National Dental Policy Committee

Concord, New Hampshire: — Northeast Delta Dental's actuary, Laurence Weissbrot, FSA, MAA, director of actuarial and research, was recently appointed to serve on the national DeltaUSA Dental Policy Committee for a two–year term. The DeltaUSA Dental Policy Committee reviews current dental procedures, coding, and new dental technology/materials and science to offer recommendations to the DeltaUSA Board regarding its processing and policies and benefit coverage.

Northeast Delta Dental Receives a Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award

Concord–based Northeast Delta Dental was one of three New Hampshire organizations honored with a Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award from the New Hampshire Psychological Association (NHPA) recently at an award dinner at HNPA's fall conference.

The Psychologically Health Workplace Award was created to recognize organizations that understand the link between employee health and well–being and organizational performance and who have implemented a variety of workplace practices in an effort to create a positive work environment.

In her award acceptance speech, Northeast Delta Dental's Vice President, Human Resources, Connie Roy-Czyzowski, SPHR, CCP, said: “Our CEO and senior leaders are responsible for setting the tone in the organization: setting a tone of respect; being clear about expectations; being a coach, not a boss; having an atmosphere where people genuinely care for one another. Delta Dental Plan of Maine Addresses the Future Shortage of Maine Dentists

Saco, Maine: Delta Dental Plan of Maine collaborated with the Maine Dental Association (MDA) to attract dental students to the MDA's annual convention at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine, by contributing $6,500 to a fund that provided a $200 stipend to each student to help with travel and lodging costs. This is just one of the ways that the Maine Dental Association and Delta Dental Plan of Maine are each addressing the future shortage of Maine dentists.

Forty–one students traveled from dental schools in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Ohio, Michigan, California, and Canada to explore employment opportunities in Maine, more than double the students that attended last year's MDA convention for the same purpose.

Shannon Mills, DDS, FAGD, FICD, Northeast Delta Dental's vice president of professional relations, said of the gift, “we are thrilled to partner with MDA to attract future dentists to learn about Maine by showing them how much this northern New England state has to offer.”

Northeast Delta Dental's Marie Bridges Recognized for High Sales

Saco, Maine: Marie Bridges of Falmouth was recently recognized by Delta Dental Plans Association for sales resulting in 9,600 primary subscribers in 2008.

Bridges joined Northeast Delta Dental as a senior account executive in its Saco office in 2007, bringing over two decades of experience in the health care insurance industry to her position.
